Position Description

ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for one of the Endocrinology practices in Newark, DE.

You would work alongside 8 physicians, 5 NP's, diabetes educators, and support staff in this fast-paced practice in Map II.

As an LPN in this practice, you will be responsible to retrieve requests for prescription refills with follow up to pharmacies. As well as renewing medication prescriptions by telephone and by completing forms. In addition, you would follow up with insurance companies for pre-authorized medications.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday- Friday on the day shift (8a - 4:30)
  • No Evenings
  • No Weekends

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
  • Administers injections and medication prescribed and directed by the provider.
  • Schedule Nuclear Med Test, injections and other office appointments.
  • Answers telephone messages under the direction of the provider
  • Performs various lab tests; reads and records results.
  • Uses special diagnostic and screening equipment.
  • Manages patient medication administration safely and effectively.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory of supplies and keeping exam rooms stocked.
  • Documents in a timely, accurate, and concise manner reflecting proper use of terminology.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility and accountability for own professional practice at all times.
  • Maintains an attitude of helpfulness, courtesy, and cooperation towards patients, families, physicians, and other departmental/hospital personnel.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.  Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Appropriate clinical experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • LPN license in the state of DE.
  • BLS certification.
