$10K Sign-On-Bonus - PACU RN II

Shift Requirements: Full-time/Flex 36 hours weekly.

Flexible to work all shifts - Day/Evening/ Midnight Shift hours. Predominant shift will be a combination of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts. Weekends, Holidays, and On Call shifts – per the department guidelines.

Christiana Hospital is currently recruiting for PACU RN. The position will include all areas such as Prep and Recovery for surgery in a fast-paced and constantly evolving hospital environment. In addition, the candidate will possess the skills related to hemodynamic monitoring and support for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, (e.g. Pacemakers, A lines etc.), pain management (e.g., PCA, epidural), to Vascular Access Device management, cardiac monitoring, and airway management.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge vital to provide peri-operative care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including special needs.
  • Proficient in acquiring and interpreting medical information and to identify patient needs in order to provide the care vital to safely proceed with surgery. Assists anesthesia with the administration of nerve blocks, and provide moderate sedation.
  • Prep and recover patients receiving general, MAC, moderate sedation, and local anesthesia.
  • Identifies actual and potential problems for which the patient is at risk.
  • Administers IV/PO medications in a safe and effective manner, and assesses response to interventions.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the perianesthesia care team in a timely manner to provide a smooth, organized, and efficient flow of patients.
  • Delegates duties and tasks to other nursing staff, techs, and clerks after assessment of capability and scope of responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • BSN Preferred
  • Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire can be considered with relevant experience.
  • Applicants should possess a minimum of two years' experience in critical care or step-down units, with preference given to those with ICU experience.
  • Additionally, adaptability to a high patient volume during the day, typical of a level-one trauma hospital, is essential.
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required.
  • PALS preferred – required to acquire within 6 months.
  • TNCC preferred - required to acquire within 6 months.

The successful candidate may be eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus to be paid over a period of 12 months.
