Nursing salaries improved over the decades and is now at $81K average for an RN? In 1977 when I started the average RN salary was $9779 opposite a $13,570 median household income. Like back then the salary was a good supplemental income only. For all things salary and financial planning for a"someday" retirement, keep an eye on the inflation calculator projected for the next decade forecasted at 2%. Current economy investment climate is well above the 3 - 4 % for now but require gambling on the stock market.

I've attached the BLS inflation calculator link that may be useful to project what earnings we all will need ten years forward based on our current spending habits. https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl
OR ABSENT ANY FINANCIAL PLANNING, WE CAN ALL JUST START EATING MORE BACON!

It's still not about the money in nursing, still a very satisfying vocation. We have significant accountability, responsibility and little authority to navigate problems & solutions. Makes us great problem solvers in our role as client advocates. Selah.
